The Elephant in the Room: My Career
The first and most significant change has been my career. Transitioning from a K-12 certified teacher with a master’s degree to a full-time homeschool mom has required a complete overhaul of how I approach work. I've learned to run a business from home, create passive income streams, manage marketing, and organize my schedule in ways I never had to before.
But would I trade this life for my old job if I could? Absolutely not. I have no regrets. I love what I do! Witnessing my children's progress, teaching them job skills, and instilling life skills through hands-on learning is incredibly rewarding.
**The Second Sacrifice: My Home and Vanity**
Another aspect I’ve had to embrace is redefining my home environment. It’s no longer just a living space; it’s a vibrant learning center. With art supplies, wooden craft kits, Lego projects, slime, and cooking materials scattered throughout, my home is a bustling hub of creativity.
This means letting go of the desire for a perfectly curated, Instagram-worthy space. Instead, I’ve accepted that this is a classroom, a creative space, and yes, it can get messy. I’ve had to prioritize teaching and training my kids over maintaining a pristine home.
**The Third Challenge: People's Opinions**
Finally, I've learned to let go of worrying about other people's opinions. Homeschooling and running a business is a less-traveled path, and not everyone understands or agrees with our choices. Initially, I faced skepticism from family and friends, but over time, they've come to support our unconventional lifestyle.
As a former educator, I believe in the value of homeschooling and the flexibility it offers. I can customize our learning experience, take vacations when it suits us, and create a lifestyle that fits our family’s needs.

In conclusion, these are the three major areas I’ve had to adjust: my career, my home environment, and the opinions of others.
